A classic in Bangkok’s hotel landscape: The Conrad Bangkok impresses with a great lounge, a top location near Wireless Road and a pool area that offers a real resort feeling. The rooms? Half renovated, half retro – with minor weaknesses in detail. Nevertheless, the service, benefits and value for money make it a solid premium choice for city trips with a comfort factor.

Location
Centrally located on the elegant Wireless Road, the Conrad Bangkok is your perfect starting point for everything you can experience in this city. Just a few minutes’ walk from the Phloen Chit BTS station, it is ideally connected to shopping hotspots, street food paradises and rooftop bars. The location combines urban comfort with the tranquillity of an upscale business district – just right for anyone who wants to experience Bangkok in an intense but relaxed way.
Arrival
The easiest way to reach the Conrad Bangkok from Suvarnabhumi Airport is by cab or grab – depending on traffic, the journey takes between 30 and 45 minutes and takes you directly to the heart of the city. If you prefer a more urban experience, take the Airport Rail Link to Phaya Thai station and change to the BTS Skytrain – from Phloen Chit station, it’s just a ten-minute walk to the hotel.

How you get to the hotel
I arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport with a stopover in Shanghai. Lufthansa took me there in their brand new Allegris Business Class in the A350-900 and from there I continued my journey to Thailand in Thai Airways Economy Class.
I traveled to the Conrad Bangkok by cab and when I arrived at the hotel you are actually helped with your luggage. However, another guest arrived directly before me and so all the staff were busy helping this person and welcoming them. So I took care of my luggage myself and found my way to check-in.

Check-in
Once there, I was immediately offered a welcome drink. When the lady saw that I was checking in here as a Hilton Honros Gold status member, I went straight to the Executive Lounge on the 29th floor for exclusive check-in for all guests with lounge access. These are either status members or guests who have booked a room with lounge access or a suite.

I had booked a Preferred Partner rate for the stay and that’s probably why check-in took a little longer. The booking first had to be checked and if everything is prepared.
The following additional benefits were then available to me for this booking:
- an upgrade subject to availability
- Early check-in subject to availability
- Late check-out subject to availability
- Breakfast for up to two people
- 100 dollars credit to use at the hotel
All of these, I think, really great additional benefits were on top of this rate, even though the price was identical to the Best available rate on the Hilton.com site. Great, isn’t it!
Because check-in took place in the lounge and took a little longer, the friendly staff invited me to spend the time helping myself to the small lunch buffet.
After I had eaten a small snack, everything went smoothly and I was even able to get to my room a little earlier.

Conrad Bangkok at a glance
The Conrad Bangkok is already a good 25 years old and was opened in 2000.
The hotel offers 391 rooms and suites on 32 floors. In addition to the hotel, there is also a tower with private apartments, which are also managed by the Conrad.
On the first floor you will find the lobby with the Diplomat Bar and on the 2nd floor 22 modern function rooms, including the spacious Conrad Ballroom with room for up to 1,200 guests. The restaurants are located on the 3rd floor and the pool, spa and fitness center are on the 7th floor. On the 29th floor, the hotel also offers its exclusive guests the Executive Lounge with a view over the city.

Room
In this case, I had booked the Deluxe Corner Room and was upgraded to an Executive Room due to my status and booking. Interestingly, this was an upgrade and a downgrade at the same time, so to speak. Although I was given a room on an upper floor and also access to the lounge, the room was basically a standard room – I was actually really looking forward to the corner room, but was simply too tired to discuss it at this point.
So let’s take a closer look at room number 2709 together.
Welcome
As you can see on the site plan, the building is practically built like an oval and the room is on one of the two sides. When I arrived in the room, there was already a small stuffed animal with an explanatory card on the bed as a welcome gift. Every Conrad Hotel has its own animal as a mascot and here in Bangkok it is of course an elephant!
There were two welcome letters on the desk and a fruit plate with various local fruits on the coffee table as a gift for me.

Bedroom
Immediately behind the front door, you will find yourself in a short hallway with the bathroom to the right and a built-in wardrobe hidden behind floor-to-ceiling mirrors to the left. In the cupboard you will find the bathrobes, the iron and ironing board, the slippers, a bag, everything for cleaning and the safe.

Straight out you are already in the living room and bedroom. There is a built-in sideboard on the left, which also contains the minibar (for a fee). On the sideboard is a Nespresso capsule coffee machine with cups and water.

On the right is the large and extremely comfortable king-size bed with bedside tables on each side. On both sides are the controls for the lights, sockets and charging options. The telephone is on the right-hand side.
Directly opposite the bed, the TV is mounted on the wall above a suitcase shelf. And in front of the floor-to-ceiling window on the left is a kind of desk, which could certainly also be used as a dining table for two. There is also a strangely incongruous desk chair and right next to the bed is a (sofa) bed with a table and armchair.
The room itself is not particularly large and looks compact, but tidy and the interior designers have managed to integrate quite a lot without making the room look cluttered.

Bathroom
As already mentioned, the bathroom is right next to the entrance door. Straight ahead opposite the bathroom door is a washbasin. Here you will also find the usual care products, such as a toothbrush and toothpaste, comb, shower cap, soap and the like.
On the left is a large freestanding bathtub in front of a floor-to-ceiling window to the room. The room can of course be partitioned off with a roller blind for more privacy, but the window allows plenty of daylight into the bathroom.

On the right, next to the Japanese toilet, is the shower cubicle with rain shower and hand shower. Shampoo, body wash and conditioner from the brand Byredo with the scent Mojave Ghost – smelled pretty good.

Turndown
Incidentally, the Conrad Bangkok also offers a turndown service in addition to the pillow menu. The bed is turned back, the curtains are drawn and the slippers are laid out on a rug in front of the bed.

View
From the window on the 27th floor you naturally have a great view over the city. The view from my room actually went in the direction of the many high-rise buildings and past the neighboring tower with the Conrad apartments to the hotel’s own tennis courts and the pool.

Lounge
All guests who have access to the lounge are welcome here. In addition to breakfast and the opportunity to consume non-alcoholic refreshments and small sweets throughout the day, the lounge also offers a small buffet with snacks at lunchtime, an afternoon tea and a relatively large buffet at happy hour. In typical lounge fashion, drinks are ordered at the table during happy hour and served by the staff at the table. The rest is self-service at the buffet.

The afternoon tea buffet is indeed very British with scones and sandwiches.

And because it was so busy at Christmas time during my stay, the Conrad Bangkok created an overflow area on the first floor next to the lobby in the Diplomat Bar because there were more guests than seats in the lounge. The menu downstairs was identical to the one upstairs, but what really excited me was the Peking duck on the second evening? I mean: wow! How amazingly good is that? By the way, you are automatically served a plate with 3 different hors d’ouvres on arrival at happy hour in the lounge.

Resort activities
Pool
On the 7th floor of the hotel and on the roof of the event rooms is the great and really tropical-looking outdoor pool of the Conrad Bangkok.
In addition to the large main pool, there is also a larger hot tub. It was much bigger than the one at the Grand Hyatt Bangkok Erawan, but unfortunately not quite as warm. And I have to say that I really liked the pool area, very green and more of a resort style – a green and relaxed haven in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city.
As soon as you lie down, there will be cold water with a refreshing towel and small snacks from time to time provided. I also had a drink or two, as I had to spend 100 dollars of hotel credit on my head.

Gym
The gym at the Conrad Bangkok is very well equipped. I did a good workout here and found all the strength and cardio equipment I needed.

Spa
At the Seasons Spa, guests can relax in 11 treatment rooms with a variety of different treatments.
Specials

The Conrad Bangkok offers its guests a complimentary shuttle bus to the nearby Phloen Chit BTS station. So if it’s too hot or raining, you can easily get from the hotel entrance to the train station.
Restaurants
Liu
Located on the 3rd floor of the Conrad Bangkok, you can enjoy Chinese and Cantonese specialties and try the Hong Kong chef’s dim sum and BBQs.
Kisara
Also located on the 3rd floor, this restaurant offers typical Japanese cuisine with sushi and teppanyaki grill.
Café @ 2
The hotel’s breakfast restaurant is located on the 2nd floor and offers an extensive buffet for its guests.
City Terrace
The pool bar offers snacks and light meals during the day and mainly serves refreshments to pool guests.
Diplomat Bar
The spacious bar on the first floor of the Conrad Bangkok offers the usual cocktails and wines as well as the reduced room service menu and live music every evening!

Breakfast
As a guest with lounge access, I was of course also able to enjoy breakfast in the lounge. In fact, I could have eaten in the regular breakfast restaurant, but it would have been too busy during Christmas and I wanted to have breakfast in peace and quiet.
With a small buffet and an à la carte selection, the choice up here isn’t that great, but the atmosphere is quieter and more relaxed. A small selection from the menu is also available to order at your seat and anyone who knows me knows that I try an Egg Benedict wherever possible, which was fine here.

Check-out
I also checked out again in the lounge, but it took a little longer due to the large number of guests. The 100 dollar credit had to be cleared first and that was probably a little more time-consuming. Basically, however, everything went well in the end.
Costs
I paid 16,808 THB for the two nights here at the Conrad Bangkok. That was about 440 euros at the time of my stay. Including access to the lounge and the 100 euro hotel credit, that’s actually an okay price, or what do you think?
Onward journey
For me, it’s off by cab to Don Mueang Airport (DMK), from where I fly to Kuala Lumpur with Air Asia, and for Micha from Hamburg via Frankfurt to Hong Kong, from where he also flies on to Kuala Lumpur with AirAsia. And there – you guessed it: we’ll meet up and fly on together to the two Indonesian islands of Lombok and Bali for our New Year’s Eve vacation.
So stay tuned. It remains, as always, exciting! New flight and hotel reviews coming soon!

Conclusion
The Conrad Bangkok is a great hotel that has proven itself over the years with good service in the lounge, a great pool area and a quiet location. The location is not directly at the hotspots, but still only a good 10-minute walk from the BTS and offers a little more peace and quiet in the middle of the Thai mega-metropolis.
The rooms have been renovated, but subjectively I didn’t particularly like the whole thing. The old marble on the washbasin, all the old wood and the strange desk chair didn’t really add up to a convincing whole. I was a little disappointed at this point.
Recommendation
The Conrad Bangkok is suitable for families, solo travelers, but also couples and, of course, business travelers are also in good hands here. Basically a hotel for everyone!
We classify the hotel in the Premium category on our scale!

Rating
We give the Conrad Bankok a rating of 8 out of a possible 10 points.
We deduct one point for the rather half-heartedly renovated rooms and a second point for the choice of food on offer in the restaurants. So the fact that I can only enjoy Thai Good in the bar at a hotel in Bangkok and that the focus here is more on Chinese and Japanese food is a good thing. If it’s profitable for the hotel, all the better, but I found it a bit strange. I don’t know…
Go there?
Yes. You can definitely do that. The Conrad Bangkok has some small disadvantages but also its advantages and the great service is definitely worth a visit.
