Your own hot tub on the terrace and plenty of hustle and bustle all around the hotel
A resort where light and shadow are surprisingly close together. A large property, great Suites, and private hot tubs on the terrace contrast with a pretty lively atmosphere, lots of families, and surprisingly little peace and quiet. On top of that, there were a few situations where we found ourselves wondering more than once what on earth was going on here? And yet there were moments in which we thought: This is exactly why we came to Goa. Read our review to find out why, in the end, the Grand Hyatt Goa only partially lived up to our expectations as a luxury resort.

Location
Grand Hyatt Goa is located directly on Bambolim Bay, just outside of Panaji. The surroundings feel much quieter than the well-known beach resorts in northern Goa and combine a tropical resort atmosphere with a rather central location. The resort is situated right on the waterfront and is surrounded by expansive gardens. Panaji — with its restaurants, cafés, and Portuguese-influenced Old Town — is about a 15-minute drive away, and Old Goa, with its historic churches, is also nearby.
The location is particularly well-suited for anyone who wants that classic resort feel but doesn’t want to be completely isolated. Thanks to its central location, it’s easy to explore both North and South Goa.
Getting Here
From Goa Dabolim Airport (GOI), the trip by taxi takes about 25–35 minutes, depending on traffic; from the newer Manohar International Airport (GOX) in northern Goa, it takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. By train, Karmali Station is the closest option (about 10–15 minutes by taxi); from the larger Margao Station, the trip usually takes about 40 minutes. Long-distance buses often stop in Panaji or Mapusa, from where the resort is easily accessible by taxi.
We arrived via an organized transfer from our previous hotel, the St. Regis Goa — after being jostled around a bit, we arrived at the Grand Hyatt Goa in just over half an hour. The car was briefly inspected at the entrance; we were then asked if we’d like to check in, and after that could continued on.
There was a small traffic jam at the entrance, so we had to wait just under 10 minutes before we could get out of the car. There was a bit of confusion; the taxi driver kindly helped unload our luggage — but at first, there was neither assistance nor a greeting from the hotel staff. It wasn’t until we reached for our suitcases ourselves that a Hyatt employee came running to help and carried our bags toward the Lobby.
On our way to the Lobby, we and our backpacks had to go through another separate security checkpoint with a scanner; after that, we received a friendly welcome and were escorted the last few meters to the Lobby.

Check-in
As we arrived at the Grand Hyatt Goa, a young employee was already waiting for us with another warm welcome, a cold towel, shell necklaces, and a welcome drink. Unfortunately, neither of us liked the drink at all, but the ritual is, of course, a really nice gesture nonetheless. We just had to hand over our passports and sign the registration form — everything else had already been prepared, which was of course great.
Next, we were introduced to the Guest Experience Manager — with whom we’d already been in contact via WhatsApp beforehand — who went over all the relevant details of our stay once more. And then we were already on our way to our Suite, which we had previously been confirmed via the app. We were driven the short distance there in a buggy, accompanied by our charming butler, Ankita.

Grand Hyatt Goa at a Glance
Grand Hyatt Goaopened in 2011 and is one of the largest luxury resorts in Goa. Its architecture is deliberately inspired by the Indo-Portuguese style, reflecting the region’s colonial history. Large courtyards, arcades, red roofs, and open water features define the resort’s appearance.
The property spans several building sections, each with 3 floors, and comprises a total of 314 rooms and suites. The Standard and Bay View rooms are located on all three floors, while the larger Suites and Club rooms are mainly on the second floor and some offer views of Bambolim Bay.
The Lobby, reception, and several restaurants are located in the main building. The Lobby is one of the hotel’s most striking areas, featuring high ceilings, open sightlines, and direct views of the ocean and gardens. The large pool area is centrally located on the ground floor between the different sections of the building — the Shamana Spa is situated on a separate, quieter level with additional fitness rooms and indoor wellness areas.
Overall, the Grand Hyatt Goa has a spacious and open feel — the combination of resort architecture, waterfront location, and Indo-Portuguese design ensures that the property feels relaxed and airy despite its size.

Reservation
We booked this stay at Grand Hyatt Goa through our own booking platform and originally reserved the smallest room category — a 1 King Bed Balcony with Pool View — but thanks to our World of Hyatt Globalist status and an applied Suite Night Upgrade Award, we were upgraded directly to a Grand Suite.
Grand Suite
Our Suite No. 2019 is located at the very end of the hallway on the ground floor of Building 2. Let’s take a closer look at it together.

Welcome
As we arrived at the Suite, a welcome gift consisting of fruit and cookies was waiting for us. Later on — presumably as a welcome gift for booking the Preferred Partner Rate — we were also treated to a really large cheese platter along with a bottle of white wine.

Entrance
Just inside the bedroom door, you’ll find yourself in a rather spacious entryway. On the right, there’s also an equally spacious guest bathroom.

Living Room
Just a few steps straight ahead, and you’ll be in the living room. Here you’ll find a sofa with a chaise longue, as well as a wall unit with a TV across from it. There’s also a desk right by the entrance to the right — perfect for working — and on the opposite side, a nice dining table with four chairs.

The minibar is located in the built-in cabinet. On the countertop is a very good capsule coffee machine with cups, plenty of water, and a very generous supply of Nespresso coffee capsules. The small refrigerator underneath was empty. The cabinet next to it contains the electric kettle, additional glasses, and everything you need to prepare some coffee and tea.

Bedroom
Leaving the living room, you can enter the bedroom area to the left and right of the wall unit, which is, of course, dominated by the bed. There’s just one armchair in the right-hand corner in front of the patio window. Behind the folding screen, which serves as a partition to the bathroom, are two closets on either side of the passageway. These contain the usual items: an ironing board, an iron, and a safe, as well as everything you need for shoe care and the necessary items if you’d like your clothes to be dry cleaned at the hotel.

The king-size bed is on the firmer side — it’s still okay, but really just that. The two pillows on each side are the same size but differ in firmness, though they’re actually kept fairly flat. The bedspread is also on the thin side, but still cozy. On both sides, there are individually controllable lamps on the wall behind the nightstands, as well as light switches and outlets with charging ports. In addition, the phone is set up on the right-hand nightstand, along with a pen and notepad. The remote control for the wall-mounted TV is also placed here.

Bathroom
In fact, the bathroom also has a rather rustic design typical of the early 2010s: beige marble with beige tiles. Visually, it’s not entirely convincing, but everything was in top condition and very spacious. There are two vanities on the right and left sides of the room, each with one sink. In the center, set in a niche, is a bathtub; to the right of it is the toilet with a bidet, and to the left is a walk-in rain shower. At Grand Hyatt hotels, body wash, conditioner, and shampoo are usually supplied by Balmain, but here they were products by Kimirica instead.

View
The real highlight was waiting on the large terrace: the hot tub. So, in the right-hand corner, you can relax outdoors while taking a dip and enjoying the view of the meadow and the ocean beyond. You’re not completely private here, but that was totally fine. On the left side of the terrace, there are two armchairs and a sofa for relaxing.

Grand Executive Suite
On the second night, we moved into the even larger Grand Executive Suite. We were originally supposed to stay there starting on the first night, but there was a technical issue, so we decided to just move on the second day. Suite No. 7207 is located on the second floor of Building 7 — which also houses the Lounge. Let’s also take a closer look at this Suite together.

Entrance
The entryway here is almost even larger and features both a guest bathroom and a built-in closet.

The minibar is also located here and contains exactly the same items as the one in the first suite.

Living Room
The large living room features a big sofa, an armchair, and a coffee table. There is also, of course, a TV mounted on the wall.

Dining Room
Together with the living room, the dining room forms the central living area of the Suite. It features a dining table seating up to 8 people. There is also a kitchenette where meals can be prepared. It has its own separate entrance, so meals don’t have to be carried all the way through the Suite.

Office
Just off the living room, you even have your very own office here. There’s a large desk waiting for you here — it’s a great place to work. In addition to a phone, there are, of course, plenty of outlets, charging ports, and an Ethernet connection.

Bedroom
The bedroom also features the same amenities as the previous Suite and the size of the room should also be quite similar.

The king-size bed and nightstands are also identical to those in Suite 2019. The only additional piece of furniture here is the bench at the foot of the bed.

Bathroom
The bathroom is just as spacious, but laid out a little differently. The bathtub is the focal point of the room. It is positioned so that the window behind it offers a view of the bedroom. However, the window can also be closed with a shade for more privacy.
Across from the tub is a vanity with two sinks. To the left of it is the doorway to the restroom, and to the right is the walk-in rain shower. Both rooms are extremely spacious. The toiletries are also the same as in the other Suite — namely, from the Kimirica brand.

Off the hallway leading from the bedroom to the bathroom is a walk-in closet that’s actually quite small. Here you’ll find the usual suspects: bathrobes, an ironing board and iron, as well as a safe, shoe care supplies, and everything you need to send your clothes to the hotel’s dry cleaning service.

View & Terrace
Here, too, I think the terrace is the real star of this Suite. It’s truly huge — there’s an incredible amount of space for a sofa area with a dining table, two armchairs, and even two cozy loungers.

Of course, there’s a Jacuzzi here on the second floor as well, and it can even be separated from the public part of the Suite by doors. The wine from the welcome gift we received the day before had made its way into this Suite, and we actually treated ourselves to a bath with a view and some white wine. Truly fantastic!

The view isn’t incredibly spectacular, but it’s definitely very nice, stretching across part of the gardens all the way to the ocean.

Lounge
As World of Hyatt Globalists, you can access the Lounge at any Hyatt hotel that offers this service — here at Grand Hyatt Goa, that’s the Grand Club, located in Building 7. It was very convenient to get there from our second Suite. We just went down two floors and there we were.
During the day, they provide small sweet and savory snacks, as well as soft drinks, coffee, and tea. The room itself is nicely decorated and not too small, though it’s certainly not overly spacious given the number of rooms at the resort. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to use the terrace in front of the Lounge during our stay as it was not in service.

In the afternoon, you’ll be treated to a light afternoon tea featuring fruit and a selection of assorted pastries.

Between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., there is also a Cocktail hour featuring a small buffet of cold dishes, salads, and desserts, as well as a few hot dishes. In addition to the usual soft drinks, which are available any time, there are also alcoholic beverages offered on a self-service basis.
Unfortunately, however, the following was somewhat contradictory: Although self-service was explicitly stated, some guests were still served by staff. We found that somewhat odd and particularly inconsistent. Especially on the second evening, the Lounge was also very crowded with (rather loud) children and felt more like a kids’ club than an exclusive Lounge for status guests — which was a shame, really.
In addition, a clear staffing issue became apparent here: At a certain point on both evenings, the two chefs in charge of the Lounge simply disappeared outside onto the terrace to smoke, while the buffet eventually ran out of food. When asked about this, a staff member offered only an embarrassed smile and an apology. The Guest Experience Manager also confirmed, when asked, that there was unfortunately a minor staffing issue here.

Grand Hyatt Goa Activities
Pool
The large pool area consists of several interconnected pools spread across different levels throughout the complex. In the center is the large, deeper main pool, which is laid out around a small island. Slightly elevated is a whirlpool, from which you have a slightly better view. The temperature here, however, is the same as that of the other pools.
To the side of it, separated from the large main pool by a floating divider, is a shallower area presumably for families. A little further down, there is another, very shallow pool. The pool area thus offers a variety of zones to suit different needs — from the deep swimming pool to the shallow family area.
Interestingly, the two shallow family pools were practically never occupied during our stay. In contrast, the deep pools were teeming with families with children of all ages. Unfortunately, there was no adults-only area where you could relax in peace without getting caught up in a water fight.

Beach
To be honest, the beach in front of the hotel isn’t really worth mentioning. Separated from the hotel grounds by a wall, construction work was underway during our stay. There didn’t appear to be any direct access from the hotel to the beach. At high tide, there’s no beach left anyway; at low tide, it’s very rocky, and the water is also quite murky and not very inviting for swimming. If you’d like to enjoy a better, truly beautiful beach here in Goa, we can recommend the St. Regis Goa.

Fitness Center
The gym is located in the spa area; it’s well-equipped but not too big. Taking pictures was pretty difficult this time — there were always guests working out there, and I didn’t want to just point my camera at them.

Spa
The spa area is located behind the main building in its own separate section and, in addition to treatment rooms for massages and a relaxation area, offers a truly beautiful and relaxing atmosphere for unwinding.

There’s also an indoor lap pool here, as well as a hot tub with a steam room and a salt sauna. The latter area, however, is in desperate need of renovation — it looks quite run-down and isn’t exactly clean anymore.
The indoor pool turned out to be a welcome alternative for us, since the main outdoor pool was practically nothing but a kids’ club, with no adults-only area at all. However, it eventually got noisy in here, too, when two more families with screaming children joined and one of the fathers started playing TikTok Reels at full volume.

Kids’ Club
In our opinion, Grand Hyatt Goa is a true family hotel, and with Camp Hyatt, offers young guests their own area where they can really let off steam. In addition, there are a wide variety of activities that change daily — often as frequently as every hour.

Tours
Grand Hyatt Goa’s location offers a great opportunity to explore Panaji, the region’s nearby capital—just about a 10-minute drive away, where you can see colonial buildings, historic churches, and a glimpse of everyday life in Goa. It’s definitely worth a visit, and the trip is easy to book through GetYourGuide.
Special Features
What really sets this hotel apart is its family-friendly atmosphere — as one of the few couples without children, we practically stood out here, since virtually all the other guests were traveling in groups of at least three, some with grandparents or even as large families of eight.
Since we were the only Europeans at the resort, we were apparently assigned a dedicated attendant who handled any issues that came up — interestingly, she personally checked out with us both evenings so she could go home, which made us feel rather uncomfortable — after all, we don’t want to employ serfs — and it came across more like a request for permission than a normal end to the workday. I think it was well-intentioned, but somehow still missed the point entirely.
In principle, the entire resort is accessible by buggy, but it’s recommended that you refrain from using one so that transportation for arrivals and departures can be prioritized — if you do order one anyway, expect a wait time of about 30 minutes. Despite appearing larger on the map, the resort is actually quite easy to navigate on foot.
In addition, there are daily activities around the pool that are free for all guests to enjoy.

Restaurants
The Dining Room
Asian, Indian, Italian, and Mediterranean dishes are served at the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant .

Chulha
You can enjoy Indian specialties here for lunch and dinner.
The Verandah
The hotel’s Italian restaurant features an open kitchen where you can watch the chefs prepare your meals.
Pool Bar and Grill
As the name suggests, this restaurant is located right next to the pool and offers Asian specialties in a cozy atmosphere. Here, you can sit outside and enjoy the view of the garden and the sea.
We had dinner here on our second night and thought the food was really, really delicious. The staff were well-trained and did a really good job.

Capiz Bar
Located on the ground floor below the Verandah Restaurant, this Bar also features a large terrace overlooking the ocean where you can sit and enjoy the evening with a Cocktail.
The Tea Room at Confeitaria
The hotel café has fresh, sweet treats waiting for you. Afternoon tea is also served here, and of course, you can choose from a selection of exclusive teas.

Breakfast
Just as it had been at the St. Regis Goa, breakfast here at Grand Hyatt Goa was a rather chaotic experience. We were given several strong warnings to be sure to go to breakfast before 9 a.m., as it gets crowded and hectic after that — yet we deliberately decided to have breakfast later, after we’d had a good night’s sleep.
At the front desk, we had to give our room number and name before being directed to the waiting area. There were already two small counters set up there, one with food and one with chai — a great idea for when you’re starting to get hungry. After about 20 minutes, our room number was called, and we were led to a table — of course, we no longer had a choice of which table to sit at.
Although they asked us right away what kind of coffee we wanted, the service didn’t go quite as smoothly as it should have — one coffee arrived, but the other didn’t come until after we asked several times; when it finally did, however, we got it twice.
The buffet selection is quite extensive and features mainly Indian dishes, but also a fair number of continental options. Everything tasted really good, and the service was friendly, even if it still seemed a bit disorganized. With an occupancy rate of over 96% (530 guests on-site, all having breakfast), we wondered why there wasn’t a second breakfast option available in one of the other restaurants.
Interestingly, later that afternoon we found out that there were two other restaurants where we could have breakfast. We would have really liked to have known that on our first morning, but oh well.
So we decided to have breakfast at the Verandah restaurant on the second morning instead, where the atmosphere was much more relaxed: we were served right away and got a free table immediately; we were given a brief explanation of how things worked, and then our drink orders were taken and served quickly. Among other things, they even had French toast, which was tasty but also nothing special.

Service
The Grand Hyatt Goa tries to live up to its reputation as a 5-star hotel by having a particularly large number of staff members present throughout the property. At times, certain areas are downright overstaffed, but unfortunately, operations are still often poorly coordinated. The vast majority of the staff are exceptionally friendly and do their best to get the job done. But without a system in place to support them in their work, it’s usually quite difficult to deliver truly excellent results.
The people in charge are often very busy on the phone and, apparently, with organizational tasks. For most employees, much better training should be provided, and, above all, a significantly better system should be implemented.
Ankita, the butler assigned to us, was always available and would always politely ask if she could call it a night which was almost a little much for us, but of course also fine.
Checkout
For check-out, we had our suitcases picked up and loaded into the buggy, which worked well with a little advance planning. Once we arrived at the front desk, it was our turn right away, and the actual check-out process went very smoothly. Everything was ready, and the bill was correct.
Costs
For these two nights at Grand Hyatt Goa, we paid just under 25,500 IDR — in May 2026, that was equivalent to about 230 euros. Mind you, this was for the smallest room category. The upgrades to the two Suites and access to the Lounge were made possible by our World of Hyatt Globalist status. Breakfast was included in the Preferred Partner Rate we booked. Food and drinks outside the Lounge were charged separately.
Departure and Onward Travel
From here, we’ll continue to the airport and from there to Mumbai on a short-haul flight in Air India Business Class. In the Indian metropolis, we’ll check out the St. Regis Mumbai and the Four Seasons Mumbai before flying back to Frankfurt in Lufthansa’s A350 Business Class.
Conclusion
This hotel is another leaving us with mixed feelings. Let’s start with the positives: The Suites were great! Being able to sit in the hot tub on your own terrace and enjoy the view was truly wonderful. The grounds are beautifully designed, though a renovation should really be on the agenda in the coming years. Why a hotel is being built in a region with dreamy beaches — in a location that has absolutely no beach at all — is, however, unusual, to say the least.
We were taken care of really well, and the vast majority of the staff are truly very nice, attentive, and do a great job — even if the organization often left something to be desired. We would have liked better communication regarding the breakfast situation, and at the pool, we would have appreciated the option to find a spot to relax without getting lost in the family crowd. Since you can’t go to the beach, at least a quiet zone by the pool would be appropriate. Ideally, there would be another pool on the spacious grounds for those seeking peace and quiet.
We can highly recommend the Grand Hyatt Goa only to guests who truly love Suites with private hot tubs — provided you don’t mind families with children playing — otherwise, you’ll find virtually no relaxation here. If you don’t have high expectations, are in the area, and are looking for an affordable place to stay, this is a good option. However, for a high-end luxury resort, this hotel is probably not the right choice.
On our internal EVRYWHRE scale, we therefore classify the Grand Hyatt Goa as part of the midscale segment.

Rating
We award this stay at the Grand Hyatt Goa a solid 7 out of a possible 10 points.
We’re deducting one point for the overall condition of the hotel, which could definitely use some renovation. Another point is deducted for the Lounge, and the last one for the breakfast.
Go there?
With careful management of expectations and a nice Suite: yes. For a high-end luxury experience, however, probably not.
