Location

The Anantara Siam Bangkok is located in the elegant Ratchadamri district – one of the most central and pleasant locations in the city. The Ratchadamri BTS station is right on the doorstep, so you can get around Bangkok quickly and easily without getting stuck in traffic.

The shopping district around Siam with CentralWorld, Siam Paragon and numerous restaurants is just a few minutes’ walk away. Lumphini Park is also very close by – ideal for a short break in the greenery or a morning run. Despite its central location, the hotel itself feels like a quiet oasis with lots of greenery and a courtyard feel. A good mix of city life and retreat.

Arrival

The Anantara Siam Bangkok is very centrally located in the Ratchadamri district and is easily accessible from both airports. From Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), you will need around 35-50 minutes by cab or grab, depending on traffic. From Don Mueang Airport (DMK) you should allow around 30-45 minutes. Bangkok can get a little crowded, especially at peak times, so it’s worth planning a little buffer to be on the safe side.

If you prefer public transportation, take the Airport Rail Link (ARL) from BKK to Phaya Thai and change there to the BTS Skytrain. From Ratchadamri station, it is only a few steps to the hotel. Alternatively, you can also travel to Siam and walk the rest of the way or take a cab.

If you arrive by train or long-distance bus, you can also get to the center easily. You can reach Ratchadamri station quickly and easily via the MRT or the BTS Skytrain. Overall, the journey is easy to plan – the hotel is particularly well connected due to its direct proximity to the BTS.

We arrived at Bangkok BKK airport on the redeye flight TG923 in Thai Airways Business Class from Frankfurt and got from there to the hotel by using a grab.

Check-in

As soon as we opened the car door on the driveway, we were greeted in an extremely friendly manner with Welcome, Sir. How are you? Our suitcases were unloaded and we were escorted the short way into the lobby. There we were handed over to a member of staff, who greeted us warmly once again and asked for the name of our booking while escorting us on the way to reception. Once there, we were once again handed over to the check-in staff and greeted with a cold and fragrant towel and a wonderfully sweet and tangy cold jasmine tea.

The check-in process and processing the deposit went smoothly, but as we asked whether the benefits from the Preferred Partner Rate had also been lodged, the check-in staff member paused, frowned and had to double check a little awkwardly. As it turned out the upgrade could be granted subject to availability, although the number of rooms is obviously quite reduced at the moment. The newly renovated rooms seem to have an issue with unpleasant odors – the paint, varnish or glue was probably still transpiring so bad that they could not be occupied at the time of our stay.

We were allocated a nice deluxe room on the top floor with a view of the pool. However, we also had to proactively ask for the 100 USD hotel credit but were offered late check-out at this point.

After a bit of back and forth, we were accompanied to our room and once there the basic appliances were explained to us very friendly.

Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel at a glance

The Anantara Siam Bangkok was originally opened in 1983 as the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok and was considered one of the city’s leading luxury hotels for many years. It was not until 2015 that Anantara took over the traditional hotel and continued to run it under a new name – the architectural substance and classic style were deliberately retained. It is precisely this mixture of history and careful modernization that gives the hotel its special character today.

The building extends over 8 floors and is laid out around a spacious, green inner courtyard. This design ensures that the hotel feels like a quiet oasis despite its central location in the Ratchadamri district. Water features, tropical plants and open colonnades characterize the appearance and give the hotel an almost resort-like character in the middle of Bangkok.

The hotel has a total of 354 rooms and Suites. The Deluxe and Premier rooms are mainly located on floors 2 to 5, while the higher-quality Suite categories such as the Orchid, Anantara or Ambassador Suites are located on floors 6 to 8. The decor is classically elegant, with Thai design elements, silk fabrics and warm wood tones. At the time of our stay, however, the hotel was being renovated again, whereby the public areas were already completely finished and some of the rooms had also already been renovated. The renovation is due to be completed towards the end of 2026.

The first floor houses the prestigious Lobby with its high coffered ceiling, reception, Lounge and all restaurants. Here you will find the famous Thai restaurant, an international all-day dining restaurant as well as bars and café areas with a view of the leafy inner courtyard. You will also find the famous mural on the large central winding staircase, which is reminiscent of historical temple paintings and is painted on hand-woven silk.

The pool area is located in the courtyard in the back of the hotel on level 2, surrounded by tropical plants and sun terraces. The Anantara Spa and fitness area are also to be found on this level.

Incidentally, the rooms that are grouped around the beautifully landscaped inner courtyard of the Parichart wing (like ours) have their doors facing the arcades. Unfortunately, this also means that the mosquitoes from the inner courtyard can enter the room unhindered every time the door is opened – which they do very skillfully!

Room

As always, we also booked the cheapest room at the Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel and used a Preferred Partner Rate . The additional benefits include an upgrade to the next higher room category if available and so we were booked into a deluxe room instead of a standard room.

So let’s take a closer look at room no. 730 together.

Welcome

As soon as we arrived in our room, a welcome letter was waiting for us on the table alongside fresh fruit and a little sweet surprise.

Entrance

In the entrance area of the room, just behind the door, you will find yourself in a hallway where the fitted wardrobes are located on the left. Here you will find a total of three cupboards with enough space to hang or store your clothes. You will also find an iron and ironing board, two umbrellas, bathrobes, slippers, a safe, a bag, a hairdryer and everything you need to have your clothes cleaned at the hotel.

The minibar is located in the middle between the cupboards. On the worktop you will find the capsule coffee machine, kettle, cups, water, snacks and some alcoholic drinks, as well as coffee capsules, tea and sweeteners placed in the drawer below the coffee machine. Glasses are kept in the cupboard below and soft drinks, beer and chocolate are stored in the fridge.

Living room and bedroom

Straight ahead is the combined living room and bedroom. The bed is on the right-hand side of the room. To the left at the back is the fully equipped desk. In front of the wide window is a large couch with table and armchair.

The large king-size bed is really exceptionally comfortable and we had a great night’s sleep here. There are two pillows for each sleeper, slightly different in size and firmness. There is also a comforter that is just light enough not to be too much and just heavy enough to still count as a proper comforter.

Individually selectable lamps are placed on the two bedside tables and on the left-hand one there is a clock radio with charging facility for your phone. You will also find a pad with a pen and the remote control here.

Bathroom

The entrance to the bathroom is directly to the right of the entrance area. Opposite the door is the washstand with one washbasin, where you will find soap and body lotion as well as a drawer full of various additional toiletries. To the right of the room is the bathtub and in the left corner is the spacious walk-in rain shower also featuring hand shower and care products from the in-house – really high-quality – brand. The toilet is installed directly to the left of the door.

View

The large window provides a view of the backyard and therefore the pool. As the room in this area of the hotel on the 7th floor is also on the top floor, the view is somewhat restricted at the top by the protruding roof and at the bottom by the wall protrusion.

Turndown

Naturally, a hotel like the Anantara Siam Bangkok offers its guests a turndown service every evening. The comforter is folded back, the slippers and bedside rug are provided, the curtains are drawn and a little goodnight story is placed on the bed.

Lounge

The Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel offers its guests the Kasara Lounge on the 7th floor of the main building. However, access was not included in our rate, so unfortunately we cannot report any further about the lounge.

Hotel activities

Pool

The really beautiful and newly renovated pool is located behind the main house and between the surrounding high-rise buildings. You can relax here in a unique atmosphere of tropical tranquillity paired with urban flair. The look is somewhat reminiscent of the White Lotus hotels and is somewhere between playful and elegant.

The temperature of the pool was just right at the time of our stay – not too cold to freeze and just warm enough to be refreshing in the sultry temperatures. In addition to a few gazebos and double loungers, there are also plenty of sun loungers for relaxing.

We received a very friendly welcome on arrival and after we had chosen our loungers, the towels were laid out for us on the loungers and not even a minute after we had laid down, two glasses of cold water were ready for us to refresh ourselves – flanked by cold, fragrant towels. There were also various sun creams, as well as aftersun and refreshing Evian facial toner ready for us to use at a stand by the entrance.

Fitness Center

From the pool level, you go down two flights of stairs to a large room that houses the very high-quality and really well-equipped gym. All the equipment is brand new and in addition to the regular muscle and cardio machines, there is a free weights area and a classroom. Different classes are offered every day, such as yoga and Hyrox, which can be attended free of charge.

Of course, towels are provided for you to use and water is also available.

Spa

The spa is located directly to the left of the exit to the pool and offers the usual treatments.

Special features

The hotel offers a total of 17 different function rooms. There is everything from a huge ballroom to a simple small meeting room. Accordingly, external events are also often held here.

Restaurants

All restaurants are located on the first floor. Most of them are in the atrium of the left-hand side wing together with some stores.

Biscotti

The hotel’s Italian restaurant, together with the Shintaro Restaurant, is the only one located in the smaller right wing of the hotel.

guitly Bangkok

The South American restaurant is located together with most of the others in the inner courtyard of the Parichart wing and conveys a cozy atmosphere despite the chic and slightly futuristic furnishings.

At breakfast, this restaurant is the only option for eating in an air-conditioned indoor area.

Madison

What should not be missing in any high-quality hotel? Yes. Exactly. A Steakhouse. And this is exactly what Anantara offers here.

Shintaro

Located opposite the Biscotti restaurant, the Japanese restaurant is also in the Montathip wing on the right-hand side of the hotel.

Spice Market

If you don’t feel like leaving the hotel for Thai cuisine, you can just come here.

Aqua

The bar is centrally located in the middle of the larger inner courtyard, surrounded by hanging plants and even larger trees. Breakfast is served here in the morning, snacks and tea are served from lunchtime and in the evening this outlet becomes a full-blown bar.

On the evening of our stay, there was even live music here with some loud and slightly disturbing participation from Chinese guests. Unfortunately, the bar is located in the inner area of the side wing and all the hotel rooms on this side have their doors facing the inner courtyard – so it was correspondingly loud inside the rooms until 11pm.

Mocha and muffins

Here you can enjoy everything a café has to offer and make yourself comfortable either inside, in the courtyard or on a small terrace facing the street.

The Lobby

The classic hotel Lobby here at the Anantara Siam Bangkok also offers a veritable bar and so in the evening we decided not to sit in the noisy Aqua Bar for an end-of-day mocktail, but to take a seat here in two of those cozy armchairs.

Pool Bar

The pool bar has been renovated just as beautifully as the entire pool area. At the time of our stay, there was still a lot of work going on at night. As a result, we were unfortunately unable to have our Cocktail before going to bed.

However, once the work has been completed, you can certainly enjoy a wonderful end to the day here in the evening. During the day, you can take a seat either in the shade of the trees or under the open roofs and treat yourself to small snacks and refreshments.

Breakfast

At the Amnantara Siam Bangkok Hotel, breakfast is served in the beautiful main courtyard of the Aqua bar and inside the guilty restaurant. The open-air area of the bar can be covered with a textile roof so that everything is protected from the rain, but is still open air and somehow cooled in some intelligent way.

The main part of the buffet is beautifully presented at several stations in the open-air area, including live cooking stations for fresh egg dishes and freshly prepared noodle soup. The Western breakfast options are presented in the indoor area of the guilty restaurant whereas the asian dishes are served in the outdoor area. We had a really delicious breakfast here and were able to sit outside without sweating, even in these hot temperatures.

In addition to the really extensive buffet, a few dishes are also offered from a menu. These and all hot drinks are ordered and served at the table.

The service here is really good – friendly and fast. We felt very comfortable and started the day relaxed, in a good mood and with really delicious food!

Service

The check-in was friendly and quick, but extra benefits had to be requested. We would have liked this to be different. But apart from that, we received a very friendly welcome everywhere and were also served very competently and quickly. So a big thumbs up for the team!

Check-out

The check-out at reception was friendly, professional and quick. Everything went quickly and the bill was correct. The 100 USD hotel credit had already been deducted and so we were able to pay directly. During the process, we got into a conversation with the employee and told her about the bar party situation in the evening, whereupon she apologized on behalf of the hotel and gave us a small elephant as an attempt to make amends. When asked when the renovations would be completed, she replied in December 2026 – or hopefully sooner.

Costs

For this one night in the lowest room category at the Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel, we paid just under 12,500 THB. At the time of our stay in February 2026, this corresponded to a good 340 euros. Breakfast was included in the Preferred Partner Rate, as was the 100 USD (3,000 THB) hotel credit, which we used for the snacks by the pool and again in the evening in the Lobby bar.

All in all, however, I have to say that the price here does not correspond to what is offered to guests. I get a lot more for this price elsewhere, especially in Bangkok and even more with status.

Departure and onward journey

At check-out we were asked if we needed any help with our departure, but said no as we had already organized our own grab transport. At the hotel driveway, our suitcases were taken by the bellboy and loaded into the car for us.

From here, we will continue on to Hua Hin, where we will spend the night at The Standard Hua Hin before heading back to Bangkok.

Conclusion

We leave the Anantara Siam Bangkok with mixed feelings. Basically, I think the hotel is absolutely great and has a lot of potential to become my favorite hotel in Bangkok for future trips. We will definitely take another look at the hotel once the (urgently needed) renovation is complete and I can definitely see the potential for this hotel to become a great hotel in the luxury category. The service definitely is on point!

We can actually recommend the Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel to all groups of guests with a clear conscience. Single and business travelers are just as well catered for here as couples and families. Although there are no explicit areas for the little ones, the large pool (area) and the spaciousness of the hotel certainly make it pleasant for families with kids.

On our EVRYWHRE internal scale, we place the Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel in the Premium segment. After the completed renovation, the hotel certainly has the potential for a Luxury placement, but we do not see this in its current state.

Evrywhre categories

Rating

We award this stay at the Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel 7 out of 10 possible points.

Half a point each is deducted for the check-in experience, which could be improved, and the room, which was in need of renovation. Another full point deduction for the noise pollution from the bar in the evening and for the mosquitoes buzzing all over the hotel.

Go there?

Absolutely. You can definitely have a great stay in Bangkok here!
