Beautifully conceived, stylishly made – but not quite told to the end.

Andaz Prague feels modern, relaxed and pleasantly unagitated – almost like a quiet retreat in the middle of the city. At the same time, that last bit of attention to detail that turns a good stay into a truly special experience is missing here and there. Some moments are really strong, others seem surprisingly underdeveloped. In the end, you’re left with a nice hotel that you like – but don’t necessarily miss. Find out why this was the case during our stay in this review.

Location

The Andaz Prague is located between the Old Town and the New Town, in an area that is particularly well suited as a starting point for exploring. You can be at Wenceslas Square and in the historic Old Town in just a few minutes.

The surroundings are somewhat quieter and less touristy than directly on the Old Town Square, but at the same time you are right in the center. Around the hotel you will find cafés, restaurants and smaller stores with a more local feel.

Thanks to its proximity to the main train station and several metro and streetcar lines, you can also travel flexibly without a cab. The location is ideal for anyone who wants to live centrally but prefers a more relaxed environment.

Arrival

Andaz Prague is located in the city center and is easily accessible from Václav Havel Airport (PRG). The journey takes around 35-45 minutes by cab or Uber, depending on traffic.

By public transport, take a bus from the airport to the city center and then change to the metro or streetcar. The total journey time is usually around 40-50 minutes.

If you are traveling by train, the main train station Praha hlavní nádraží is only a 5-10 minute walk away. Alternatively, you can reach the hotel in a few minutes by cab. The Florenc bus station can also be reached quickly, either by streetcar or in around 15 minutes on foot. Overall, getting here is very straightforward.

We walked from our previous hotel, the W Prague, and arrived at the Andaz Prague in about 15 minutes. Incidentally, the hotel has an entrance from both sides of the street. The one from the streetcar stop is smaller, the one facing the square larger.

Check-in

As we arrived at the hotel on foot, we were greeted warmly inside the entrance and accompanied to reception. On the way, we were able to choose whether we wanted a hot drink, soft drink or Prosecco as a welcome drink.

Everything was well prepared at reception, we were served our drinks, were informed about what the Hyatt Priveé rate included and had our room cards in our hands as soon as we had placed the deposit.

Andaz Prague at a glance

Andaz Prague opened in 2021 and is located in a historic building from the early 20th century, which was originally used as a bank. The building extends over 5 floors and combines listed architecture with modern design.

The hotel has a total of 176 rooms and Suites spread over floors 1 to 5. The standard rooms and deluxe categories are mainly located on floors 1 to 4, while the Suites and larger rooms are located on floors 5 and 6.

The lobby, reception, restaurant and bar are located on the first floor and are largely open-plan, with direct access to the street and plenty of natural light. The area is deliberately designed to be communicative and, in typical Andaz style, is more lounge-like than classically hotel-like.

The spa and wellness area in the basement is located in the bank’s former vaults – an architectural detail that very specifically reflects the history of the building.

Room

We booked the smallest hotel room here at Andaz Prague – in this case a 1 King Bed room. We had submitted a Suite Night Upgrade for this stay – but the hotel was almost fully booked and so the request was unfortunately declined. However, due to our World of Hyatt Globalist status, we were then upgraded to a King Bed Premium room.

So let’s take a closer look at room No. 302 together.

Welcome

The welcome gift was ready for us as soon as we arrived in our room. In addition to a bottle of wine and a plate of chocolate pralines, we were greeted by a handwritten welcome card.

Entrance

Behind the room door you will find yourself in the narrow entrance area. On the left is the open built-in wardrobe, where you will find the iron and ironing board, as well as the safe, everything for shoe care and for having your clothes dry cleaned in the hotel. A narrow shelf is installed on the wall to the right.

Living room

Straight ahead you are in the small living area. In addition to a chaise longue, there is also a table with a chair and stool. A large TV is installed on the wall.

The minibar is located on the corner between the flight and living area in a kind of open shelf. The capsule coffee machine, glasses and water are placed on the shelf. The cups and spoons, as well as tea and coffee, are stored in the drawer below. There is also water, spritzers and Cola in the fridge. As in all Andaz hotels, everything inside the minibar is included once. Coffee and tea are refilled free of charge.

Bedroom

A few steps further on, adjacent to the living area, is the bedroom. Next to the bed, there is only one chair – probably for storing clothes.

The bed was quite comfortable, albeit on the harder side. Two pillows of the same size but of different firmness are available for each sleeper. Plus a cozy comforter. We sleep best with memory foam pillows, so we asked whether the hotel also offers them. We were very happily surprised to receive two really comfortable and large pillows at our room door just 5 minutes after making the request at reception.

Turndown

Unfortunately, the Andaz Prague does not offer its guests a turndown service. To be honest, I find this quite difficult given the prices charged. Nowadays, this is simply standard for a 5-star hotel.

But at least the light switches are labeled with pictograms so that it is mostly clear which switch operates which lamp – so at least you don’t have to try out where to switch on the bathroom light at night.

Bathroom

From the living room, you enter the extremely compact bathroom. The washstand with one washbasin is located in an alcove immediately to the right. Here you will find soap and body lotion, a handful of standard amenities, as well as slippers, a hairdryer and other care products in a basket underneath.

The toilet and the walk-in rain shower with handheld showerhead option are located opposite each other in individual rooms separated by glass doors. The care products here at the Andaz Prague are provided from the Byredo brand in their Eleventh Hour fragrance

View

The view from the two windows looks out onto the street with the streetcar line and we also had a view of the small garden of the church diagonally opposite. Despite the fact that the streetcar stop is right in front of the hotel, we slept really well at night – the insulation of the windows seems to obviously be very good.

Andaz Prague Activities

Fitness Center

Located in the basement, the gym offers modern equipment and an area with free weights and bodyweight exercises. However, it does not have its own classroom.

Spa

Unfortunately, the spa area itself looks rather lonely. The reception, which was probably originally manned, is now deserted and obviously no longer in use. The rather labyrinthine area in the basement of the hotel has a small relaxation room as well as a sauna and a steam bath.

In comparison with the previously visited W Prague, the spa here at Andaz Prague unfortunately can’t keep up at all.

Restaurants

ZEM Restaurant

The all-day-dining restaurant at the Andaz Prague is located on the first floor, adjacent to the MEZ Bar. The really beautiful interior has a classic but modern feel and radiates a pleasant warmth. A small part of the kitchen is built into the dining room, so you can sit at the counter and observe the chefs at work.

We had a hotel credit of 100 USD included in our Preferred Partner Rate booking and therefore decided to spend it at the hotel in the evening.

MEZ Bar

Located directly between the two entrances, the bar is the hotel’s flagship. Here you can sit comfortably under a glass roof in the front atrium and enjoy a coffee or Cocktail.

All hotel guests can enjoy a free Sensory Experience here, where you can choose your favorite from 3 fragrances and then be served a Cocktail that matches the scent and is hopefully to your liking.

Breakfast

The Easter weekend brought an incredible amount of tourists to Prague and so the hotel was almost fully booked. Breakfast was accordingly full. It was still too cold to sit outside, but in addition to the ZEM restaurant, the MEZ bar and even the area in front of the reception were used as an overflow area, which was very much needed. As we arrived for breakfast at 9:30, there were only 3 or 4 tables free. A short while later there was already a crowd of waiting guests at the restaurant entrance.

We were greeted warmly and escorted to our chosen seat, where we were able to place our coffee order straight away. After that it was a little difficult in terms of service – I think the staff were certainly a little stressed because of the many guests, but really good and friendly service really is different. Most of them did their best, but some were just obviously in a bad mood.

Andaz Prague basically offers a small buffet in the open kitchen and a slightly reduced offer in the bar so that not all guests have to walk into the actual restaurant. There is also a small menu on the tables from which you can choose freely. Egg dishes that are not explicitly listed can also be ordered.

Unfortunately, the system was not explicitly explained to us. So we only ordered scrambled eggs after wondering whether egg variations were offered at all and asking about this topic. If you are more of a shy or not very experienced travel person you will most likely simply not order any eggs at all – which is a shame. Right?

On the other hand, we thought it was really cool that the hotel offers guests who participate in the World of Hyatt status program a glass of sparkling wine or, alternatively, non-alcoholic Sparklin Tea.

Check-out

Everything was well prepared for check-out. However, there was a pile of invoices on the work table and a lot of paper was shuffled from left to right – which made the whole process a little restless and confusing. However, our prepared invoice was quickly found and the billing went quickly.

We were already outside waiting for the Uber when the receptionist came to meet us again and told us that the payment process had not worked.

So I went back inside with her and finally completed the payment. It was only on the way back out that I became suspicious about the amount of the bill. After checking again, we realized that the bill was about twice as high as when we booked. So we went back to reception to clarify this. After some back and forth, it became clear that the originally booked price was correct and after consulting the supervisor, we were informed by the receptionist that the refund would be processed within two days at the latest.

Upon saying goodbye she once again apologized, but there was no offer of compensation or anything like that.

To be completely honest: mistakes happen and are not a problem at all. But in this case, our credit card was overcharged by almost 400 euros. This can cause a major problem for some guests. I really can’t understand why this process is not given the utmost priority – in the end the mistake did not happen on our side.

Costs

For this one night at Andaz Prague we paid CZK 7985 including all taxes and fees, which at the time of our trip in April 2026 was equivalent to just under 328 euros. The upgrade was made possible by our World of Hyatt Globalist status. The hotel credit of 100 USD came with our booked Preferred Partner Rate.

Departure and onward journey

After an eventful weekend in Prague with stays at the Prague Marriott Hotel and the W Prague, we are heading back home to Germany. So we’re taking an Uber back to the airport from here.

Conclusion

Once again, Andaz Prague leaves me feeling a little shaken. The building itself is really beautiful and has been beautifully renovated. I think it’s a shame that the façade has now been painted a rather colorless and cold shade of grey. The whole building somehow disappears in a strange way and unfortunately doesn’t look particularly elegant.

Everything inside is also very well equipped, but strangely lifeless. I can’t really put my finger on exactly what it was, but it just doesn’t seem alive – even though the hotel was apparently fully booked.

Personally, I’m just not a fan of being checked-in at an open table at an initial price of around 320 euros a night for the smallest room. We could overhear everything that was being said next to us. Privacy is not really an option. That was also the case at the Andaz Bali, for example – but at least there we were checked in sitting down.

The room really was a small miracle of space and almost had the character of a Junior Suite – which was really great. But the spa experience is just sad. There is so much space in the basement but it seems as if nothing is done with it. The other two hotels, i.e. the Marriott Prague Hotel, but especially the W Prague really did a much better job.

We can actually recommend the Andaz Prague to all travel groups. Solo and business travelers will get their money’s worth here, as will couples and families. You just shouldn’t have particularly high expectations.

Rating

We rate this stay at the Andaz Prague with a benevolent 8 out of 10 possible points.

The price-performance ratio is just a little off here – what is on offer simply does not correspond to the price paid and accordingly we deduct one point here. Then there’s the spa, which unfortunately comes across as rather unloving and costs another point.

Go there?

Well, you can do that. I’m not entirely convinced by this hotel, but if you like the style, it’s fine.
