Location

Hyatt Regency Delhi is located in the Bhikaji Cama Place diplomatic quarter, in a relatively quiet and green area within the southern part of the city. The neighborhood feels less hectic than the downtown area around Connaught Place and is characterized by office buildings and residential neighborhoods.

Thanks to the good road connections, you can reach both the airport and attractions such as India Gate and Humayun’s Tomb with relative ease. The location is particularly well-suited for anyone who wants to stay in a quieter area without being completely outside the city.

Getting There

From Delhi Airport (DEL), it takes about 25–40 minutes to reach the Hyatt Regency Delhi by taxi or shuttle, depending on traffic.

You can also reach the hotel fairly easily by metro. The nearest stations are just a few minutes away, so you’ll have good access to the rest of the city.

If you’re arriving by train, the trip from New Delhi Railway Station usually takes about 30–40 minutes. You can also reach the city’s major bus stations by taxi or metro without any major detours.

Traffic in Delhi will test your patience right from the moment you arrive: Using your turn signal is more of an option than a rule; drivers often change lanes once or twice without warning, while on the other hand traffic lights are treated as if they were a matter of life and death — complete with a sudden, hard stop.

We took a taxi from our previous hotel, the JW Marriott New Delhi Aerocity, and arrived at the hotel in about half an hour.

Check-in

As we arrived at the hotel, we were warmly welcomed right at the entrance while we were still sitting in the car. Our luggage was unloaded, and a quick security check followed before we were escorted to the front desk.

At check-in, we were offered a refreshing bottle of water — always very welcome when the outside temperature is over 40 degrees. As we’d already seen in the Hyatt app, we had been upgraded to a Regency Suite thanks to our Globalist status. We were given some information about the hotel and the included breakfast before being escorted to the elevator with our room key in hand.

Hyatt Regency Delhi at a Glance

The Hyatt Regency Delhi opened in 1983 and is one of the city’s best-known international luxury hotels. The building has 7 floors and has been renovated several times without losing its classic character.

From the outside, the building itself is somewhat reminiscent of a high-rise bunker — not entirely unlike the Boros Bunker in Berlin near Friedrichstraße — but it could just as easily be a building standing in the middle of the desert. Why exactly this particular design was chosen remains, at the very least, questionable.

The hotel offers a total of 507 rooms and Suites, spread across floors 1 through 7. The Lobby on the ground floor is designed as a large, open reception area that flows seamlessly into the restaurants and Bar at the back.

The pool area is located outdoors on the ground floor, while the fitness and spa area is on the first floor.

Overall, the Hyatt Regency Delhi has a classic, grand, and time-honored feel — a typical international grand hotel with a long history in the city.

Regency Suite

As we usually do for every stay, we had booked the smallest room category here as well — a simple room with one king bed. However, since we hold the Globalist status at Hyatts loyalty program, as mentioned earlier, we were kindly upgraded directly to a Regency Suite.

So let’s take a closer look at Suite No. 133 together.

Welcome

Unfortunately, there was no welcome gift waiting for us upon arrival at the Suite. However, after returning from a short trip through Delhi, a small welcome amenity in the form of crackers with two dips was waiting for us in the room. Unfortunately, it had apparently been left out in the open for quite some time and, as a result, tasted a bit rancid. A small piece of chocolate would have been a better choice.

Entrance

As you walk through the front door, you’ll find yourself in a relatively spacious entryway that doubles up as an office. Here you’ll find a fully functional desk with everything you need to get a good chunk of office work done.

You’ll find the minibar tucked away in a sideboard on the side. There are a few salty snacks on the countertop, and behind the left cabinet door you’ll find the electric kettle and everything you need to make yourself some tea or (instant) coffee. The refrigerator contains some soft drinks, beer, chocolate bars, and several bottles of free drinking water. However, the rest of the minibar items must be paid for.

Living Room

Just a few steps further and you’ll find yourself in the living area. Here you’ll find a sitting area with a couch, armchairs, a coffee table, and, of course, a TV mounted on the wall.

Bedroom

From the living room, you’ll enter the bedroom. In addition to the bed, there’s an armchair by the window, a TV across from the foot of the bed, and a place to set down your suitcase.

The king-size bed, with a total of four pillows and a rather thin comforter, was quite comfortable. On the nightstands — which looked rather cheap — the phone, along with a notepad and pen, was ready and waiting on the left. Otherwise, there were individually controllable lamps and electrical outlets on both sides.

Funny enough – one of the pillows was embroidered with “Thank you for being a Lifetime Globalist.” We’re not quite there yet — as we are still working on achieving lifetime status. But that’s exactly why frequent-stay programs like Bonvoy and Hyatt are so appealing: Once you’ve accumulated a certain number of nights or points, you earn lifetime status and no longer have to requalify.

The built-in closet has a sliding door — which we always find a bit impractical. Inside, you’ll find the iron and ironing board, bathrobes, slippers, an umbrella, and a paper bag.

Overall, the Suite looks quite dated — it could certainly use a renovation. This is especially noticeable with the closet and, in particular, the rather old model of the safe inside it.

Bathroom

The bathroom, which isn’t all that big, unfortunately only features one sink at the vanity — which is no longer up to modern standards. The space feels a bit cramped and could definitely use more room. Here you’ll find the usual toiletries, as well as the hotel’s own brand of soap and body lotion — unlike the hotels we visited previously, this one stays true to the classic Pharmacopia products.

On the left side of the room is the wet area with a bathtub and shower. This area is separated from the rest of the bathroom by a glass wall, and of course, it also offers shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. On the right is the separate toilet.

Turndown

The turndown service provides hotel guests with the usual amenities. The curtains are drawn. The main lights are turned off, the bedside lamps are turned on, and the bed is made up.

View

Our Suite on the first floor of the building was located at the very end of the left wing and offered a view of the green space behind the hotel—and thus also of the pool—as well as the adjacent property belonging to a bank.

Lounge

The Regency Club Lounge is located on the 6th floor, which is the second-to-last floor of the hotel. Access is granted to guests that have booked a Club Room or a Suite, as well as to status guests at the highest level, Globalist. In fact, the dress code here is quite strict — men are only allowed to enter the club when wearing long pants. Nevertheless the view of the sunset from up here is truly spectacular.

As in all Lounges, soft drinks, tea, and coffee are available throughout the day, along with a selection of light snacks for guests with access. In the afternoon, there is also an afternoon tea service featuring additional desserts.

The special highlight is, of course, always the Cocktail hour —also known as the “evening spread.” The Hyatt Regency Delhi offers its status guests a selection of fruit, salads, cold cuts, and a variety of rotating hot dishes. Of course, wine, beer, and sparkling wine are also served upon request.

Resort Activities

Pool

The pool is located in the garden, sheltered by the building. Unfortunately, when viewed from the Lounge, it appears larger than it actually is — if even just a quarter of the hotel’s guests were at the pool at the same time, there would definitely be a space issue.

Each of the few umbrellas is accompanied by two lounge chairs. Unfortunately, there isn’t much shade here during the day. Overall, though, the pool is of course a great way to cool off and comes highly recommended.

Fitness Center

Located on the same floor as the pool, you’ll find the neat but rather cluttered fitness center. It mainly offers the usual cardio equipment, of course, but also strength training machines and a free-weight area.

Spa

In addition to classic treatments, the spa also offers Indian specialties, as well as pedicures, manicures, and access to the hair salon.

Restaurants

TK’s Oriental Grill

The restaurant serves Far Eastern cuisine, but above all Teppanyaki specialties, which are prepared right before your eyes on various grills.

La Piazza

The restaurant offers you the chance to enjoy Italian specialties in a trattoria-style setting and, above all, to try the best dessert in the world — tiramisu made from their own recipe.

The China Kitchen

Authentic Chinese dishes from the Sichuan region are served here. You can enjoy specialties such as Peking duck and Dim Sum here.

Syrah

Here you can try Mediterranean dishes like hummus, falafel, kofta, and other delicacies.

Polo Lounge

You can also take a quick look at the hotel Bar, located diagonally across from the café, just one flight of stairs up.

Café

The breakfast room isn’t just used in the morning; at noon, it seamlessly transitions into a lunch or brunch buffet, and in the evening into another buffet — typical for India, where you can almost always find an all-day buffet restaurant. Contrary to its cozy name — simply “Café” — the room is truly enormous and spans two floors with tall columns and large windows overlooking the courtyard.

Sidewalk

The Café Bakery is located in the arcades facing the courtyard and, in addition to delicious desserts, naturally also offers hot coffee and specialty teas.

Breakfast

The Hyatt Regency Delhi serves breakfast at Café, its all-day buffet restaurant. And as I mentioned earlier, Indian guests seem to particularly enjoy extensive buffets for every meal.

After we’d skipped the big buffet at the JW Marriott Delhi, we were definitely not prepared for the breakfast buffet at the Hyatt Regency Delhi: It was really huge — like HUGE!

In addition to the breakfast buffet — which features mainly Indian dishes — there is also an à la carte selection offering egg dishes and desserts.

Unfortunately, clearing the plates didn’t go so well here — there’s definitely room for improvement. In terms of selection and taste, however, there’s really nothing to complain about: juices, pastries, an egg station, Indian dishes, and more — everything a foodie could want.

The space really does feel more like a terminal or train station, and it was a bit noisy as a result — but ultimately wasn’t stressful or exhausting.

Service

Overall, the staff at the Hyatt Regency Delhi was very friendly; at the Lounge, they ranged from good to very good. Check-in was great — so we actually felt really comfortable here the whole time.

Checkout

Everything was well organized at checkout, and the process itself went by very quickly. The folio was correct, and we were sent on our way and bid farewell with the hope of seeing each other again soon.

Costs

We paid just under 28,500 IDR for these two nights at the Hyatt Regency Delhi, which was equivalent to about 260 euros at the exchange rate in May 2026. The upgrade to the Suite and access to the Club were made possible by the Globaltist status.

Departure and Onward Travel

After our stays at the Andaz Delhi, the JW Marriott New Delhi Aerocity, and this hotel in the city, we’ll be heading on to The Leela and the legendary The Imperial before traveling to Mumbai via the Golden Triangle and Goa. So stay tuned for this India series—it’s definitely going to be exciting!

Conclusion

The Hyatt Regency Delhi really isn’t expensive, and for the price per night, you get a lot here — especially with Globalist status. Other than that, there’s absolutely nothing to complain about except for the hotel’s age. The staff is generally very friendly, and the Lounge is really good, too. Still, the hotel really could use a facelift.

Nevertheless, Hyatt Regency Delhi is suitable for all types of guests. Solo travelers, business travelers, couples, and families alike will find something to their liking here and should feel right at home.

Compared to other Hyatt Regency properties, however, we would place this one in the Midscale segment on our internal EVRYWHRE scale.

Rating

We rate this stay at the Hyatt Regency Delhi a well-deserved 9 out of 10 possible points.

All in all, our stay here was really good, but the building really needs a facelift. That’s why we’re deducting a point from the hotel’s rating.
