SQ 937 Singapore Airline in A350-900 Business Class from Denpasar, Bali (DPS) to Singapore (SIN)🇸🇬 – Long-haul comfort on a medium-haul route

Flight SQ 937 on Singapore Airlines from Denpasar to Singapore was our first leg on the way back to Thailand. We flew on one of their Airbus A350-900s in Business Class. The departure was slightly earlier than planned, as was the arrival in Singapore. The pure flight time was just over two hours, which makes this flight a classic medium-haul hop on an long-haul cabin product where comfort, procedure and service still play a major role.

Arrival

After our stay at the Nirjhara Resort, we made our way to Denpasar Airport already at around 8am as it was important for us to have enough time before departure to check in and use the Lounge. The transfer went smoothly, so we arrived at the airport without any stress. However, please always bear in mind that traveling by car on Bali can take much longer than you think due to the often congested roads. So make sure you set off early.

We got off the car at the drop-off zone and then made our way into the large and open reception hall on the travelator.

Take-off airport

I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) was opened in the 1930s as a simple airfield near Tuban and gradually developed into Bali’s main international airport. As tourism grew, the infrastructure was expanded several times, and most recently thoroughly modernized to handle international connections and high passenger numbers.

Today, DPS is functional and heavily frequented, especially at peak times and high season. Capacity limits are often clearly noticeable, but at the same time the airport remains the central gateway to the island. In the long term, a second airport on Bali is being discussed, but so far without concrete implementation. The airport is currently being expanded and optimized. Recently, for example, baggage control, which in recent decades was always carried out before you could enter the counter hall, has been abolished.

Check-in

Inside the departure hall, we first looked for the Singapore Airlines Business Class check-in next to the Economy counters until we noticed that they were placed on the opposite side leaving us a little puzzled. The Business Class counter was almost empty and so we were able to check in straight away without having to wait at all. We received a friendly welcome, were able to hand in our suitcases while waiting, received our baggage receipts as well as reprinted boarding passes and were on our way to the security checkpoint within a few minutes.

Security check

Passport control at Denpasar Airport is now also fully automated and you can exit at double gates simply by scanning your passport. The subsequent security check is equipped with several queues and was also reasonably quick. However, there is no separate premium station.

Lounge

After the duty free area, escalators led up to the Lounges. In Denpasar, there is both a Priority Pass Lounge and the Airline Lounge, which is used by several airlines. We deliberately decided against the Concordia Lounge and instead went to the Tujuan Lounge, which is also used by Singapore Airlines. The Lounge was tidy, quiet and absolutely sufficient for spending our waiting time until boarding here.

Food and drinks were available, without being outstanding, but solid overall. There were hot and cold dishes provided at some counters, but no live cooking stations, just a buffet.

Boarding

Our boarding was handled at Gate 4 and there were already separate areas for the different travel classes for passengers to queue. As we arrived, the Airbus A350-900 had just landed from Singapore and was prepared for the return flight as soon as all incoming passengers had disembarked.

The boarding process then started on time and was clearly separated into groups and travel classes. As Business Class guests, we were put in Boarding group 1 and were the first to board.

Behind the counter at the gate, we went down an escalator and from there into the boarding bridge. As Business Class guests, we were allowed to turn left at the first branch and then board via the front aircraft door.

Welcome on board

After a brief and friendly check of our boarding pass and a warm welcome at the door, we were shown to our seats and just as we got there greeted again by the flight attendant responsible for us on this flight. I took my seat on 17A, Micha sat on 18A right behind me. While we were still settling into our seats, we were offered champagne as a welcome drink and a hot towel.

Start & Routing

After a short taxi, we took off from Denpasar on time. The route took us straight to Singapore. The flight time was initially already indicated from the Cockpit as only 2:15, although according to the flight plan we were supposed to need 2:50. In the end, we were even faster and made it in only 2 hours and 12 minutes.

Cabin & seat

This Singapore Airlines Airbus A350-900 was equipped in a medium-haul configuration, meaning that there were a total of 40 Business Class seats and 263 Economy Class seats on board. There was no Premium Economy on this aircraft.

The Business Class cabin was quiet, tidy and, typical of Singapore Airlines, very elegant and luxurious. Subtle Advent decorations reminded us that we were traveling in November and that Christmas was just around the corner. There are also overhead bins above all the seats, which take away some of the cabin’s spaciousness.

In this configuration, the seats are staggered so that some are placed closer to the window and others closer to the aisle. In the middle of the cabin, the seats are either next to the aisle and therefore more separated from the person sitting next to them, or closer together and at a greater distance from the aisle, which is ideal for couples. We were surprised by the generous distance between the seat and the cabin wall, which offered freedom of movement, but also seemed waste quite some cabin space.

The armrest on the seat itself can be lowered so that it is at seat cushion level. An individual reading lamp is built into the side panel and there is a small storage space behind the shelf. A bottle of water, the menu and headphones were already waiting here as I got in.

There are also charging options, a small pull-out mirror and a hook for headphones or, alternatively, glasses or similar items. The table can be pulled out from underneath the monitors and, of course, the seat can be moved into different positions at the touch of a button. These buttons can also be used to control the reading lamp, call flight attendants, switch the TV on and off and activate the Do not disturb sign.

Of course, the seat can be electrically adjusted to a completely flat reclining position. For a flight of just around two hours, this was quite comfortable, even though the seat is not one of the widest or most comfortable that Singapore Airlines offers on their fleet.

Entertainment

The entertainment system is played via the monitor and offered a large selection of movies, series, a moving map and additional information about the airline. During use, we briefly experienced a system error, but this was quickly rectified.

Amenities

Due to the short flight time, there was no classic amenity kit. Instead, individual care products were available in the washrooms, including a refreshing spray and lotion. There was already a pillow and a blanket at the seat when boarding.

Food, drink & snacks

We took off around midday so Singapore Airlines served its guests a three-course lunch on this flight. Everything was served on one tray and there was only a choice for the main course. The order was taken directly after the seatbelt signs were off and as the first drinks service started simultaneously.

Marinated salmon was served as a starter and there were three options to choose from for the main course: Seabass, chicken or a local biryani option. We both opted for the fish which was accompanied by garlic bread and a slice of Milo cake for dessert.

The drinks menu was very extensive and in addition to Piper-Heidsieck champagne, Cocktails and other mixed drinks were served. In terms of taste, we found the food solid, but rather average.

Washrooms

A total of three toilets were available for Business Class guests. One directly at the front by the cockpit and two at the back of the cabin by the galley. The washrooms were functional, but not particularly large. As already mentioned, there were also some amenities available here as well as baby changing facilities.

Service

The iconic Singapore Airlines girl is world-famous – just like the airline’s service. The flight attendant responsible for us and the whole team were friendly, attentive and professional without being intrusive. Exactly what we had hoped for. We felt very welcome and well looked after throughout the whole flight.

Arrive

30 minutes before landing, we were given the final information about the remaining flight and the imminent arrival, combined with thanks for flying on Singapore Airlines. The cabin was then prepared for landing and after a short descent through dense clouds and heavy rain, we touched down in Singapore even earlier than planned.

After a rather long taxi around the entire terminal, we arrived at gate F41 and the boarding bridge was attached rather quickly, so that we were able to debaoard quite fast using the front door.

Destination airport

Singapore’s Changi Airport was only the transit airport on this flight as we then continued to Bali from Gate F 60, located also in Terminal 2. However, we very much wanted to go to the newly renovated Singapore Airlines Lounge during the transit waiting time so we took the Skytrain to Terminal 3. Costs

We booked this trip from Denpasar via Singapore to Bangkok with 30,000 Miles & More miles each and an additional payment of only 21.91 euros per person via the Miles & More hotline at the beginning of July 2025. As Singapore Airlines shuttles back and forth between Singapore and Bali what felt like 10 times a day we only opted for this flight because of the departure and arrival times.

Conclusion

The booking via Miles & More was uncomplicated, as was the check-in in Denpasar. The Lounge, boarding and service were well organized. The flight was not a culinary highlight, but very pleasant overall. For a short medium-haul flight in Business Class, this product is absolutely recommendable – especially considering the super comfy long-haul Business Class seats on this short route!

Points

So we award this Singapore Airlines flight SQ 937 from Denpasar to Singapore a very well deserved 10 out of 10 possible points. There was simply nothing that would have justified any point deduction.
