Location
The Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit is located in the heart of the vibrant Sukhumvit district, surrounded by bars, cafés, street food stalls and shops. Just a few steps away is Terminal 21, which attracts visitors with its themed floors and numerous shopping opportunities. The area comes alive in the evening, when the streets are filled with locals and travellers. The BTS station and subway are right outside, making it easy to explore the rest of the city.
Getting there
The hotel can be reached from Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) in about 30–40 minutes by taxi or grab, depending on traffic conditions. You can also quickly reach the heart of Sukhumvit by taking the Airport Rail Link and changing to the BTS. From Don Mueang Airport, it takes slightly longer, but taxis, grab or shuttle buses will also get you to the hotel in around 40–50 minutes. If you arrive by long-distance bus or train, several BTS stations are just a few minutes’ walk away, allowing you to easily continue your journey into the city. You can access the hotel directly from the BTS station Asok via the elevated walkway above Sukhumvit Road.

Having already spent some time in Bangkok, we had stayed at both the Hyatt Regency Sukhumvit and the Park Hyatt. This time, we took a grab from The StandardX, our previous hotel, which was located directly on the Chao Phraya River, to the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit.

Check-in
Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit’s Lobby is located on the first floor of the building. You can drive up a ramp to exit the car directly in front of the main entrance. We were warmly greeted there and our suitcases were unloaded from the car and stored away immediately. We were then kindly shown to the reception. Once there, we were greeted again and checked in immediately.
The receptionist thanked us for our loyalty to Marriott Bonvoy and asked if we would like 1,000 bonus points as a gift or the local choice. We were also allowed to choose a welcome drink, which was later served directly at our room. We were then very kindly escorted to the Suite, where a Cappuccino was already waiting for Fabi.

Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit at a glance
Opened in 1996, the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit boasts 420 rooms and suites across 33 floors. The hotel has undergone several renovations over the years, most recently in 2022 when the Lobby and public areas were given a comprehensive update. At the beginning of 2024, the pool area was given a fresh makeover as well, becoming a real highlight in the middle of the city. Although it still bears the Sheraton name, the hotel is part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection.
Rooms are available from the lower floors up to the 30th, with many offering spectacular views of the Bangkok skyline. The upper-floor suites are particularly sought after, with some featuring their own terrace and sweeping views of the city.
In terms of cuisine, Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit is a well-known establishment in the city: Rossini’s serves modern Italian cuisine at a fine dining level, while Basil offers Thai classics in an elegant setting. The Orchid Café is renowned for its lavish breakfast and lunch buffets, while the Living Room Bar is one of the best places in Bangkok to enjoy live Jazz music.
The spa is located on the middle floors and is connected to the outdoor pool via a tropical garden, providing an urban retreat that feels just like a resort. Adjacent to this is a well-equipped gym. The pool itself is surrounded by lush greenery and is one of the most beautiful in the city.
The staff here are known as ‘associates’ and are renowned for their warm yet highly professional service. The clientele is mixed, with many business travellers thanks to the location directly on Sukhumvit Road and next to the BTS Asok Station, as well as holidaymakers who appreciate the comfort and central location.

Suite
As always, we also booked the cheapest room here at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, but also used a Nightly Upgrade Award to upgrade to the most expensive Suite available. At the time of the upgrade request, we didn’t realise that this Suite consisted of two bedrooms. More precisely, it comprises of the Luxury Suite itself and an adjoining room. So we had two beds, or three in total, at our disposal. But see for yourself:
Luxury Suite No. 1501 and Room No. 1502 are our home for the next two nights.

Luxury Suite 1501

Entrance
Through the bedroom door is a small entrance hall with a sideboard offering ample space for welcoming guests. Follow the hallway, turn left around the corner and you will find the spacious Powder room on your left. In addition to a toilet, there is also a large sink.

Welcome
As we arrived at our Suite, we found a fruit plate waiting for us on the desk as a welcome gift. Along with a welcome letter, there was an information sheet detailing the opening hours and additional benefits available to guests of a Luxury Suite. These included the washing and ironing of two items of clothing per person per day, an executive breakfast at Rossini’s and evening Cocktails at the Living Room or the Sala.

To our great surprise, on the second day there was an additional greeting from the Loyalty Team waiting in our room in the afternoon: a selection of delicious traditional Thai sweets. Great, isn’t it?!

Living room
When you enter the living room, you will see a large desk on the left, complete with everything you need for work. The minibar is located in the wall unit behind it. The small fridge contains soft drinks, beer and wine. Next to this is a cabinet containing a coffee machine, kettle and cups. The drawers contain spirits, snacks, and glasses. In the back right corner, there is a seating area with a coffee table.

Bedroom
Opposite the sofa is a large double sliding door that leads to the bedroom. To the right of the window is another sofa with a small table, and directly behind the door is a dressing table.

Straight ahead is the incredibly comfortable king-size bed, complete with two pillows of the same size but different firmness levels, and the perfect blanket — cosy, soft and just the right weight. As you can imagine, we slept like babies! There is a lamp on each bedside table and charging options as well as light switches on either side of the bed. On the right-hand side, there is also a telephone, a radio alarm clock, a notepad and a folder containing information about the hotel. Opposite the bed, the TV is mounted on the wall. Next to it is a valet stand.

Walk-in Wardrobe
At the back of the bedroom, next to the bathroom entrance, there is a fairly large walk-in wardrobe featuring plenty of space for your clothes and you will find a bathrobe, slippers, an ironing board and iron, an umbrella, shoe care products and everything you need to send clothes to the dry cleaners. There is also a safe.

Bathroom
The spacious bathroom has a vanity unit on the left with, unfortunately, only one sink. Here you will find the usual amenities, as well as soap and body lotion from the Byredo brand. Opposite is a built-in bathtub. At the far end of the room, the toilet is on the left, with the very large walk-in rain shower directly opposite. This shower even has a built-in bench. Byredo toiletries are also available here.

Turndown
The Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit also offers a turndown service. This includes drawing the curtains, providing slippers and water, offering the pillow menu and leaving a cleaning bag with a note as well as the freshly laundered and pressed clothing items you left the other day to be cleaned.

View
From our Suite on the 15th floor, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the landscaped pool area and Benjakitti Park in the distance. This part of the city is visible in all its glory.

Room 1502
If you would like to see Room 1502, take a look at our YouTube review, in which Fabi gives a great overview of this Suite extension and much more!

Lounge
In general, Luxury Collection hotels do not have Lounges, and the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit is no exception. However, the hotel offers wonderful alternatives to visiting the Lounge for guests with Platinum status or higher.
Guests with status can choose whether to enjoy their complimentary breakfast in the main restaurant or take advantage of the exclusive opportunity to have breakfast at Bellini’s, which is reserved for their kind only. Soft drinks and hot beverages are also available free of charge throughout the day at The Library.
The evening Cocktail, customary in Lounges, is served in either The Living Room or The Sala by the pool. Here, you can enjoy delicious small plates to accompany alcoholic beverages and savoury snacks.
At The Sala every evening, guests with Platinum status or above can enjoy a selection of delicious cocktails and various alcoholic and soft drinks alongside a range of prepared snacks.

As a substitute for the lounge, status guests can enjoy soft drinks and hot beverages free of charge throughout the day at The Living Room and evening Cocktails are also served here. Every day, guests with Platinum status or higher can enjoy a selection of delicious Cocktails and alcoholic beverages alongside small prepared snacks.

Hotel activities
Pool
The beautifully landscaped pool is located on the third-floor roof, next to the main building and surrounded by lush greenery. It’s only when you look very closely that you realise you’re not actually staying at a tropical beach resort.

The hotel has made the most of the available space, ensuring that it never feels crowded or uncomfortable. In fact, you can relax very comfortably by the pool and unwind after a busy day sightseeing.

The loungers are standing close together, but this doesn’t make it feel uncomfortable in any way. There are plenty of them, and the adjacent pool bar, The Sala, also offers some relaxing covered daybeds.
At the end of the outdoor area, next to the pool, there is a hot jacuzzi built into its own sala. Unfortunately, you have to take a big step up to get in and another big step down to get out, but otherwise it’s a great place to relax.

As soon as we arrived by the pool, we received a very warm greeting. We were immediately asked if we could lie down by the pool, so two sun loungers were found and towels were laid out on them for us. Even a second, smaller towel was also provided. What’s more, no even a minute after we arrived, a glass of cold water was brought to refresh ourselves. Well done! That’s what I call real service.
Fitness Centre
There are actually two gyms at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit — apparently, the original gym was no longer sufficient, so an additional room was found for expansion.
As the name suggests, the Cardio Fitness Studio exclusively offers cardio equipment such as treadmills, rowing machines and bicycles, and is open 24 hours a day to hotel guests.

One floor up, right next to the pool, you will find the well-equipped but a little dated weight training gym, which also offers a room for classes and a small bar. The gym is open from 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Spa
The Grande Spa has several individually designed treatment rooms. Each room is carefully furnished, combining traditional Thai design elements with modern accents. This variety of room designs ensures that every guest enjoys a unique spa experience.

Restaurants
The Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit features six outlets and offers an amazing selection of on-site restaurants.
Rossini’s
This is where breakfast is served for all Platinum-level and above status members. You can read more about this in the Breakfast section further down in the text.
This all-day dining restaurant offers lunch from Sunday to Friday and the opportunity to enjoy Italian specialities for dinner every day.
The Sala
Located directly by the pool, this outdoor restaurant serves light international dishes and, of course, Thai food for lunch and dinner.

Orchid Café
The all-day dining restaurant, located on the Lobby Level, offers a regular breakfast to all hotel guests.
In addition, a large buffet is available for lunch and dinner from Monday to Saturday. On Friday and Saturday evenings, a grand seafood dinner buffet is available. So, if you’re feeling particularly hungry, this restaurant is probably THE place for you!

The Living Room
This Bar is located on Level 1 and can be reached via a large spiral staircase from the Lobby. The Bar offers live piano music every evening, and a live Jazz band performs from Tuesday to Saturday. This cosy, classic Bar has the feel of a Jazz Nightclub. Despite the open and bright room, the atmosphere still remains really interesting!

Right next door, you will also find The Library.

BARSU
This Bar is located on the ground floor and offers air conditioning as well as a small outdoor seating area where you can experience the hustle and bustle of this vibrant neighbourhood first-hand!

basil
This restaurant is located on Level 1, right next to Rossini’s, and offers modern interpretations of Thai cuisine for lunch and dinner.
Breakfast
Guests with Platinum status or higher and Suite residents at Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit can choose between an exclusive breakfast at Rossini’s and the standard option at the Orchid Café.
On our first morning, we opted for breakfast at Rossini’s and found that it by far exceeded our expectations for offering such an exclusive start to the day. We had expected a small buffet with an exclusive menu, but were presented with an impressive menu and, above all, an extensive buffet. The rather large restaurant was pleasantly quiet and cosy, with no more than half the tables occupied. It is truly exceptional to provide such a wide selection for such a small group of guests. We each enjoyed a delicious dish from the menu and were completely satisfied.
The service was also absolutely perfect — friendly and attentive, yet unobtrusive. There was even a different fruit juice served proactively every day for all guests. Really good!

Actually, we had originally planned to try breakfast at the Orchid Café on the second morning, but were so impressed with the options available to status guests that we ended up having breakfast at Rossini’s again.

Check-out
Check-out at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit was quick, professional and friendly, too. Everything was well organised and the process was very efficient. We were given a warm farewell and asked if we needed any assistance with our departure.
Costs
In August 2025, we paid THB 17,331 for two nights at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, equivalent to around €467 at the time. This rate applies to the cheapest room category. We upgraded to the Luxury Suite using two Suite Night Upgrade Certificates, and breakfast as well as Lounge amenities were included thanks to our Marriott Bonvoy Titanium status.
Departure and onward journey
Due to the heavy rain, we took a grab for the short ride to JW Marriott Bangkok. We are staying there for a few nights before heading to the beach in Phuket, where we will check out the Surin and the JW Marriott Phuket. On the way back, we will spend another two nights at the brand new Standard Bangkok Mahanakhon, which is located in the famous Mahanakhon Tower – the tallest building in Thailand!

Conclusion
Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit in Bangkok made it very easy for us to like it. We arrived with low expectations, but were pleasantly surprised throughout our stay.
Admittedly, the design is decades old and exudes the glamour of bygone times – in the bathrooms, for example, I felt more like I was in the Caribbean than in Thailand. However, despite its age, signs of wear and tear were barely noticeable. This is quite an achievement for the Hotel Management and, above all, the maintenance team!
However, it is the service that really makes the difference. You can tell that the team is well trained and works together seamlessly just everywhere. The service was just perfect. There wasn’t a single mistake or the slightest inconsistency. Very. Well. Done!
Accordingly, we can wholeheartedly recommend the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit to guests of all kinds. So, we can only advise and say: Go there!
On our internal EVRYWHRE scale, we place the hotel in the Premium segment.

Rating
We award the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit a very well-deserved 9 out of 10 possible points.
The only thing that detracts from the score is the design, which is really showing its age. Everything else was great!
