Location

Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit is located directly on bustling Sukhumvit Road, one of the liveliest streets in the Thai capital. Here, modern city life rubs shoulders with traditional markets, hip bars and excellent restaurants – the perfect neighbourhood to immerse yourself in the dynamism of Bangkok. Thanks to its direct connection to the BTS Skytrain station Nana, numerous attractions such as Lumphini Park, the glittering shopping malls at Siam Square and the cultural district on the riverbank are quickly and easily accessible.

Getting there

The easiest way to reach Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit from Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) is to take the Airport Rail Link to Phaya Thai station and then transfer directly to the BTS Skytrain, which will take you to Nana station in just a few minutes – practically right outside the hotel door. If you prefer a more comfortable option, take a taxi, grab, Bolt, Uber or private transfer. Depending on traffic, the journey takes around 40 to 60 minutes and takes you right into the vibrant heart of Sukhumvit.

When traveling by train or long-distance bus the journey to the hotel is also super easy: from Hua Lamphong Central Station, you can take the MRT to the Sukhumvit district in just a few stops and then transfer directly to the BTS Skytrain, which will take you to Nana Station. If you arrive by long-distance bus at the Eastern Bus Terminal at Ekkamai Station, it’s even easier – from there, it’s only a few stops on the BTS to the hotel. The Hyatt Regency Sukhumvit Bangkok can therefore be reached easily and flexibly from all directions.

We arrived at the Suvarnabhumi airport on the midday Thai Airways Business Class flight from Frankfurt and, as is our tradition, jumped into a grab to get to the hotel. As our flight landed even earlier than scheduled that morning, we were already in the car by 7:00 a.m., nevertheless it still took us a good hour to get there due to rush hour traffic.

As we arrived at the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit, we were greeted very warmly in front of the hotel. Our suitcases were unloaded from the car and stored away to be brought to our room later.

Check-in

Since we knew in advance that we would be checking in very early that morning, we notified the hotel by email beforehand in order to let the reception staff know we would be arriving in the morning. The email correspondence back and forth was super nice and understanding.

The actual check-in process was just like that – super nice. We arrived at the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit at 8:00 a.m. and the receptionist was very well prepared, welcoming us very warmly and even offering us a welcome drink. After thanking us for our loyalty and Explorist status with World of Hyatt, we were informed that we had received a great upgrade and that the room was already ready. At that early hour in the morning! That is what I call really, really good service! A big thank you to the hotel staff for making that possible!

Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit at a glance

Opened in 2018, the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit is one of the Hyatt Group’s newer hotels in Thailand and focuses entirely on modern design with Thai accents. The ground floor welcomes guests with an elegant lobby, which also serves as a hub before heading up to the upper floors.

The rooms and suites are spread across the 6th to 30th floors and offer impressive views of the city skyline. The 4th floor is home to the in-house restaurant Market Café by Khao with a spacious terrace, while the 27th floor is reserved for the exclusive Regency Club Lounge, which offers guests with club access a private retreat featuring personalised service and culinary highlights.

On the 28th floor, the spectacular Spectrum rooftop bar spans two levels and offers unparalleled panoramic views of Bangkok. The pool area is located on the 6th floor, nestled in a green oasis above the city streets, and right next to it is the modern gym, which is open around the clock.

Room

As always, we booked the cheapest room available. At the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit, that simply meant a 1 King Bed Room. Our upgrade was a beautiful 1 King Bed Room on the 18th floor with a great view. We were delighted upon checking in and were able to go straight to our room. However, as soon as we entered, it became clear that the room had not been cleaned yet. The employee who was supposed to deliver our suitcases arrived at the room right after us and was also utterly stunned!

So the three of us went back down to the lobby to inform the reception. The poor receptionist almost had a heart attack upon seeing us back down at the reception, but then composed himself and reacted in a highly professional manner. Since we wanted to have breakfast first anyway, we agreed on going to the lounge, and as soon as we had ordered our first coffee, were already given our new room key.

The little faux pas was handled brilliantly, and we were once again (unintentionally) upgraded to a 1 King Bed Deluxe Room. Room No. 1005 was reserved for us – take a closer look at it with us.

Welcome

All hotels in the Hyatt chain offer a welcome gift only to guests with Globalist status and above – which we have not yet achieved. Nevertheless, we were given a fruit basket with the turndown service. Great!

Living room and bedroom

As you enter the room, you find yourself in a very small hallway and two steps further on, directly in the combined living room and bedroom. Immediately to the right is a large sofa with a small table, which can serve as a reception area.

The king-size bed is located in the centre of the room against the right-hand wall. It is wonderfully comfortable and has a cosy duvet. There are also two pillows of the same size on each side, which differ only in their firmness. Both bedside tables have sockets and switches to control all the lights in the room, including a master switch that turns off all the lights. There is also a radio alarm clock on the left-hand side and a telephone on the right. A notepad and pen are also provided.

Directly opposite the bed, a large television is mounted on the wall, and in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, there is a round table with two chairs which you can use to eat on or to work. On the opposite side, also placed right in front of the window, there is another large sofa area that invites you to relax and enjoy the view.

Walk-in wardrobe

To the left of the entrance door, on the way to the bathroom, there is a sideboard containing the minibar. The lowboard has a coffee machine and a kettle, and the drawers contain crockery, snacks, tea and coffee. The fridge has a few drinks, but apart from the water on top of the sideboard, everything else is subject to a charge.

To get to the bathroom, you have to pass through a walk-through wardrobe. In addition to the usual storage options, you can also put away your suitcases here. Bathrobes, slippers and an ironing board with iron are also stored here. You will as well find a safe and a flashlight here.

Bathroom

The very spacious bathroom is dominated by the freestanding bathtub, prominently placed in front of the floor-to-ceiling window. On the right is the vanity unit, which unfortunately only features one sink despite the size of the room. All amenities are located here, as well as body lotion and hand wash from the hotel’s own brand. On the left you will find the very large walk-in rain shower and right next to it is the toilet – the highlight here is that the toilet is installed directly next to the window, so you can enjoy the view while doing your business. Exciting, isn’t it? However, the entire window front can also be closed with blinds for privacy.

View

Speaking of views, our room on the 10th floor overlooks the Sofitel opposite, and their pool is at the same height. So if you don’t pull down the blinds when you’re in your room, not only will you have an exciting view, but the guests opposite will also have an exciting insight – especially at night with the lights on! 😉

Lounge

For this stay, we decided to use a World of Hyatt club certificate to gain access to the Regency Club Lounge.

As it turned out, it was well worth it. In the morning, we were able to have breakfast right after checking in and enjoy the small but truly exquisite buffet. There is no menu option here, but to be honest, that wasn’t necessary at all.

The service was outstanding and the staff were extremely friendly, courteous and always helpful – just really great! What’s more, the opportunity to sit outside on the 27th floor balcony and enjoy the view is plain fantastic!

In addition to breakfast, the Club Lounge also offers tea, coffee, cold drinks and small snacks throughout the day. In the afternoon, there is afternoon tea, where small snacks are served, and in the evening, during cocktail hour, there is a small buffet, complete with a live cooking station and free-flow wine, sparkling wine, beer and selected cocktails, which are also served at the table.

We felt very, very comfortable at the Club Lounge and actually took advantage of the opportunity to work here outside on the balcony. The food was really delicious and we even scrapped our plans for dinner once and just ate there!

Hotel activities

Pool

The pool at the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit is located on the roof of an extension on the sixth floor and is not particularly large, but I find it perfectly adequate for a city hotel. The largest area is an infinity pool at the front edge, extending at the rear over a shallow water area to two whirlpools. The water is quite cool and wonderfully refreshing. The entire area is beautifully landscaped and offers plenty of places to lie down – including in the shade.

Adjacent to the pool area is a small pool bar offering light snacks and hot and cold drinks.

Kid´s Pool

There is no separate children’s pool, but the shallow pool area around the whirlpools offers plenty of opportunity for even the youngest children to splash around.

Fitness Center

The gym here at the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit consists of one large, somewhat winding room that offers a decent number of machines and a free weights area, which is sufficient for a proper workout. Free classes are also offered daily on a rotating basis.

Restaurants

Market Café by Khao

The all-day dining restaurant Market Café by Khao on the 4th floor of the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit is the culinary heart of the hotel, combining authentic Thai cuisine with a modern ambience. Guests can enjoy traditional recipes in a stylish setting with an open show kitchen and spacious terrace. Whether it’s a hearty breakfast, a relaxed lunch or dinner with a view of the greenery, the restaurant offers an inviting experience at any time of day.

The Lobby Lounge

The Lobby Lounge at the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit is an elegant meeting place on the ground floor — as the name suggests, right next to the Lobby. Here you can relax with coffee or tea during the day, meet up with friends or business partners, and enjoy a cocktail in the evening in a stylish atmosphere. Large windows flood the room with light and create an open, inviting atmosphere in the heart of the hotel.

What’s more, a fantastic small ice cream cart serves authentic Italian gelato!

Spectrum Lounge & Bar

The Spectrum Lounge & Bar on the 28th floor is undoubtedly THE Highlight of the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit and something of a flagship for the entire hotel. As soon as you step outside, you realize that this is not just about drinks, but about a genuine experience above the roofs of Bangkok. Elegant and stylish inside, dramatic outside on the roof terrace: an open skyline, glittering lights as far as the eye can see, and an atmosphere you won’t soon forget. Anyone who experiences the sunset here will immediately understand why this bar is much more than just a hotel amenity — it is the beating heart of the hotel and one of the places I will always recommend in Bangkok.

Breakfast

As we had redeemed a club certificate, we were able to enjoy breakfast in the Regency Club Lounge as we did on the morning of our arrival. Nevertheless, we were also allowed to use the actual breakfast restaurant, Market Café.

Regency Club Lounge

Breakfast in the Regency Club Lounge was small but very nice, and the buffet was just the right size! There is also a live cooking station where hot dishes are offered and egg variations are freshly prepared. The service is perfect, and you can enjoy a quiet and rather exclusive breakfast in a relaxed setting.

Market Café

The regular breakfast is served at the main restaurant, Market Café in the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit. The truly extensive buffet offers everything you could possibly want for breakfast.

You also have the option of choosing freshly prepared dishes from a menu. In addition to the open kitchen, there are also several live cooking stations where you can help yourself. The restaurant area is divided into several rooms, so it does not get too noisy and has a relaxed atmosphere. Café options and dishes from the menu are ordered and served at your table.

Check-out

Everything was once again perfectly prepared for check-out and the entire process was relaxed, smooth, and quick. We were given a friendly send-off and asked to come back as soon as possible. Of course, we were also asked how we enjoyed our stay and whether we needed any help with our departure.

Costs

We paid 6.570 THB for this one night at the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit – mind you, for the cheapest room category. At the time of our stay, that was equivalent to around 173 euros.

The upgrade was due to our status, and club access including breakfast was made possible by using a club certificate.

Departure and onward journey

For us, this Thailand tour takes us just one BTS station further to the sister hotel Park Hyatt Bangkok, followed by the Standard X and the Sheraton Grand Sukhumvit a Luxury Collection Hotel, as well as the JW Marriott Bangkok.

We then continue on to Siem Reap to see Angkor Wat and stay once again at the beloved Park Hyatt Siem Reap.

Back in Thailand, we will head to the beach to relax at beautiful The Surin Phuket, as well as the JW Marriott Phuket, and then on to our ever-popular Pimalai on Koh Lanta.

On our way home, we will stop again in Bangkok and stay one last night at The Standard Bangkok.

Conclusion

The Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit is a hidden gem to us!

We didn’t have particularly high expectations before we arrived, but were pleasantly surprised in every way. The room ready at 8 a.m.? No problem. Breakfast in the lounge first thing in the morning? No problem at all. All the staff were consistently friendly and extremely helpful.

The hotel didn’t open yesterday, and this is slowly becoming apparent in a few places. Nevertheless, everything here is in very good condition and you have to really look twice to find anything that needs repairing.

The breakfast in the Club Lounge and in the main restaurant is great, and the rooftop bar is of course amazing!

We can therefore really recommend the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit for all types of guests. Families, solo travelers, couples, groups, and business travelers are in good hands here. On our internal EVRYWHRE scale, we place the hotel in the Premium segment.

So we definitely say: go there! We had a really great time here. The price-performance ratio is great and the staff are all really super!
